Welcome Back: A New Chapter in Sharing the Art of Wing Tsun
I’m delighted to be back writing blogs again. Writing has always been a significant part of my Wing Tsun journey—a way to delve deeper into the art, explore its beauty and intricacy, and share those discoveries with others. For me, Wing Tsun is far more than a martial art; it’s a discipline, a philosophy, and a lifelong passion.
Between 2006 and 2012, I committed to writing at least one blog a week, exploring the depth of this incredible art and sharing insights from my studies, personal reflections, and teaching experiences. During that time, I built a body of work that blended my personal journey with my broader mission to preserve and expand the understanding of Wing Tsun. Writing became a practice of discovery in itself—a way to connect with others who share my fascination for the profound wisdom embedded in this art.
In 2015, however, my website and blog were inexplicably lost by the server, and with that, a significant portion of my written journey disappeared. While that was a hard moment, it also led to a new focus: co-authoring Winning Not Fighting, a book that bridges ancient Chinese wisdom with modern life and business. This became an opportunity to take my writing to another level and share the lessons of Wing Tsun with a broader audience.
Now, in 2025, I’m thrilled to be back, picking up where I left off and beginning a new chapter in sharing my passion for Wing Tsun. For 25 years, I’ve been fortunate to share this art with thousands of students across the world—from beginners to elite practitioners, from military professionals to those simply seeking calm and connection in their lives. Today, I’m teaching from my specialized Kwoon in Bromley, South East London, and I’m excited to bring that same energy and insight to my writing once again.
A Journey of Exploration and Dialogue
Wing Tsun is a dialogue—between teacher and student, movement and stillness, structure and freedom. For me, blogging has always been a continuation of that dialogue. It’s about uncovering the philosophy behind the physical, connecting with others who share a curiosity for self-discovery, and celebrating the balance of discipline and expression that Wing Tsun embodies.
I’ve spent years exploring this art, not only through teaching and practice but also through study and reflection. My library of over a thousand books on China—along with countless notes, journals, and scribbled thoughts—has been a constant companion on this journey. Writing allows me to translate these explorations into something tangible and share them with you, whether it’s an ancient concept that resonates today or a personal insight from teaching Wing Tsun in Bromley and around the world.
What to Expect
As I return to blogging, my aim is simple: to share my passion for the depth and beauty of Wing Tsun and how it can transform our lives. Through these posts, I hope to create a space where we can explore together—whether you’re a seasoned practitioner, a curious beginner, or someone interested in the philosophy of martial arts.
I’ll be sharing insights on:
The deeper principles of Wing Tsun, from flow and adaptability to structure and mastery.
Stories and lessons from teaching students in Bromley and around the world.
Reflections on Chinese philosophy, including Daoism, Zen, and Confucianism, and their connection to Wing Tsun.
Practical applications of Wing Tsun in everyday life, from developing clarity and confidence to navigating challenges.
I also welcome your thoughts, questions, and experiences. For me, this isn’t just about writing—it’s about connecting. Wing Tsun is built on interaction, and your input is a vital part of this journey.
